Aged
Before starting to exercsie they should check with their doctor if they have any of the following:

  • Chest pain or pain in your left arm and neck
  • Any shortness of breath
  • A heart condition
  • Any bone or joint problems
  • If you are currently taking blood pressure or cardiac medications
  • Any unexplained dizziness or fainting
They should take regular rest days and should always stretch before exercising. Warm ups before exercise should also be done. Stopping suddenly can cause more strain on the heart. Exercise should be stopped if dizziness, nausea or shortness of of breath occurs.
Children

Pregnant
Good pregnancy exercises include:
  • Aqua aerobics and swimming
  • Walking
  • Yoga, Pilates or stretching
  • Cycling (on a stationary bicycle once you are pregnant)
  • Specially formulated pregnancy exercise classes
  • Light strength training
Some safety considerations should be taken into account:
Avoid becoming overheated, aoid high intensity exercise, aid prolonged exercise after 28 weeks, setch gently, avoid rapid changes in direction, stop exercise if you feel dizzy or sick and also to stop if you experience back pain.
